The environment

Alongside the city's tourism players, Bordeaux is committed to preserving our environment through more virtuous and resourceful tourism. With this in mind, the Bordeaux Wine Festival is committed to guaranteeing everyone an accessible, inclusive and responsible experience, but also to reducing, as far as possible, its impact on the environment.
Since 2021, Bordeaux Fête le Vin has been ISO 20 121 certified.

Impact calculation

Since 2018, at the end of each edition of the wine festival, the environmental impact of the event has been calculated. This enables the organization to assess the real impact of the actions deployed. But it also enables us, in a spirit of constant improvement, to pinpoint areas for improvement, so that we can try to correct them for future editions.

Waste management

On an event of the scale of the Bordeaux Wine Festival, the waste produced represents the biggest source of pollution. That's why, since 2021, a considerable effort has been made to reduce this production, through concrete actions, and also to recycle the waste produced and thus reduce the event's impact on the environment.

Focus on waste treatment

  • Waste and bio-waste recovery → Aremacs, Les Détritivores, Azura
  • Collecting and recycling cigarette butts → Eco Mégots
  • Collection of oyster shells → Coquilles
  • Cork collection → Agir Cancer

Scenography

The scenography designed and set up for the Bordeaux Wine Festival also represents a major source of waste production. To alleviate this creation of waste, but above all to valorize it, the organization has implemented, since 2022, a strategy aimed at reducing occasional use.

Raising awareness

In addition to reducing and recycling waste, the festival also aims to raise awareness among visitors to the event of more environmentally-friendly practices and everyday habits. In particular, this involves promoting practices that can be put in place, and initiating a dialogue between professionals and visitors.

Reducing other impacts

In addition to waste management, the implementation of more sustainable scenography and raising visitor awareness, the commitments made by the organization are manifold and are maintained throughout the event creation process. Indeed, it is fundamental for the organizing team to maintain coherence between the different stages of production of the festival and the four days of its operation.
