A voyage in wine

Everyday , 11am to 11pm

The docks of Garonne

Amidst the celebrations, under the plane trees that cover the Quinconces esplanade, a pop-up structure takes you on a journey through the thousand-year-old history, telling the story of the relationship between the wines of Bordeaux and the River Garonne, the Gironde Estuary and the ocean. It is an exhibition that evokes the beginning of Vitis biturica in Roman Burdigala (the Roman name for Bordeaux), shows the different types of ship that have been used to transport wine over the centuries and reminds us of the period of English domination and when French “claret” was in vogue, as well as the role of the Dutch in the creation of sweet wines.
