Quays installation - Paper Boats

Having delighted the 2017 Bordeaux River Festival with the release of 12,446 colourful little boats, Alice Viale is returning with a new proposal: a "Small Ships Regatta " which will involve a 30-metre-long wave...

Alice Viale is a young Italian artist based in Bordeaux. More precisely, she is Venetian, and after spending her childhood among gondolas, she has preserved a passion for boats. Tiny vessels that she designs and builds out of paper using the Japanese technique of origami.

Having delighted the 2017 Bordeaux River Festival with the release of 12,446 colourful little boats on the Water Mirror, she is returning with a new proposal: a "Small Ships Regatta " which will involve a 30-metre-long wave, which will carry with it several hundred paper sailing ships.

Bernard Magrez has supported Bordeaux Fête le Vin since its first edition.  Once again, he has demonstrated his commitment to this event and his passion for the arts by supporting the installation of two monumental works by Lulu Quinn and Alice Viale, that will be exhibited on the quays during the festival.
