Marine and Maritime Museum Claude Monet in Bordeaux
Fifty-seven works by Claude Monet (including 41 paintings), lent by the Marmottan Monet Museum, will be presented with the underlying theme of Monet’s private life.
Bordeaux’s new Marine and Maritime Museum will open its doors on 15 June 2018 with a major temporary exhibition devoted to Claude Monet, in partnership with the Marmottan Monet Museum in Paris.
"You know my passion for the sea, and here it is so beautiful… I feel that every day I understand it a little better... ".
Staying at Belle-Ile, off the coast of Brittany, Claude Monet would sit and observe the ocean: he repeated the same motifs, trying to capture the changing colours and light at different times of day. It was a challenge that generated dozens of paintings.
"Monet, masterpieces from the Marmottan Monet Museum" will be the first temporary exhibition presented by Bordeaux’s Marine and Maritime Museum, on the occasion of its inauguration.
Fifty-seven works by Claude Monet (including 41 paintings), lent by the Marmottan Monet Museum, will be presented with the underlying theme of Monet’s private life. They will be displayed in the 600 m2 temporary exhibition space.
