Parade of the crews and wine brotherhoods

From Russia, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, India, and various French ports, the ships’ crews, whether they are of military origin, "sea gazelles" (a project sponsored by the La Poste group on the Belem), or young trainees, all will assemble to the sound of brass bands for a joyful martial parade.

On this occasion, they will be joined by the “Confréries” (Wine Brotherhoods), a long-standing Bordeaux tradition. There are fifteen such organizations, all of whom are members of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux. With their cloaks and ceremonies, the brotherhoods (which can include women) are a familiar presence at Bordeaux Wine Festival.
